Prayers for Your Marriage

Prayer of Spouses for Each Other

Lord Jesus grant that I and my spouse may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony.

May we always bear with one another’s weaknesses and grow from each other’s strengths. Help us to forgive one another’s failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness, and the spirit of placing the well-being of one another ahead of self.

May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection. In Jesus’ Name we pray.

Prayer for Our Marriage

Heavenly Father, we thank you for your tremendous gift of the Sacrament of Marriage. Enable us to grow in our intimacy with you and with each other. Teach us the beauty of forgiveness so we may become more and more one in heart, mind and body. Strengthen our communication with each other, and help us become living signs of your love.

Help us to be examples of commitment, love and service to our families and children. Make us a sign of the unity which Jesus prays for at the Last Supper. We open ourselves to the guidance of your Holy Spirit, who empowers us to love in Jesus’ name and walk in His footsteps.

“Let us not forget prayer, because prayer helps us to keep faith alive; the balm of faith is preserved by often turning our thoughts to the Lord: it can help us so much to look at the image of the crucifix, to stop our gaze there.. It is a beautiful way to pray.” – Pope Francis

Prayer for the Family

Heavenly Father You have given us a model life in The Holy Family of Nazareth. Help us, O loving Father, to make our family
Another Nazareth where Love, peace and joy reign.

May it be deeply contemplative, intensely eucharistic and vibrant with joy. Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow through family prayer. Teach us to see Jesus in the members of our family especially in their distressing disguise.

May the eucharistic Heart of Jesus make our hearts meek and humble like His and help us to carry out our family duties in a holy way.

May we love one another as God loves each one of us more and more each day, and forgive each others’ faults as You forgive our sins.

Help us, 0 loving Father, to take whatever You give and give whatever You take with a big smile.

Saints Louis & Zelle Martin

(Parents of St. Therese of Lisieux) First Married Couple to be Canonized Together Elevated to Sainthood on October 18, 2015 Witnesses of Conjugal Love

St. Zelle 1831-1877 / St. Louis 1823-1894
Feast Day – 12 July

O Loving God,
you ordained marriage to be a path of holiness and a sacramental sign of self-emptying love.

We thank you for Saints Louis and Zélie Martin who trod that path together, walking hand in hand, on their journey of faith.

The holy love you had sown in their hearts bore abundant fruit for Heaven, lovely blossoms for the Church and a particularly sweet Little Flower.

By the example of Saints Louis and Zélie, may all married couples grow in fidelity, purity and steadfast love.

Through the prayerful intercession of these new saints, may you renew and strengthen the bonds of marriage and family life throughout the world.
